My name is Liz Luby Chepell and I’m a Realtor in Barrington, Illinois.  My mom, Suzanne Luby and I work with the Coldwell Banker office here in town and we call our gang The Luby Group.  I live in Barrington with my husband, three-year-old daughter, two-year and six-month-old sons.

Before I became a Realtor I was a TV news reporter, anchor, writer and producer for ten years. I also worked as a radio DJ.  I have a degree in journalism from the University of Illinois and have always loved to write. I once covered a story about the birth of a two-headed pig.  If you were to watch that video, you would laugh AT me, not with me.  That little piggy had too many eyes to walk in a straight line, but I picked it up, kicking and squealing. Hungry young reporters do stuff like that, or so I thought. You might get to see the video someday, if I ever decide to share my bloopers. I have enough on-camera goof-ups to make a feature film .

I created this blog because, as Realtors, my mom and I work with a lot of people who live in or are considering a move to Barrington.  We have many clients who relocate to the area because of job transfers, a desire to move out of the city, or simply to live in one of Chicagoland’s most beautiful suburbs.  While our main job is to sell houses, we also spend a lot of time answering questions about what goes on here in Barrington. I’m taking on this project to create a new and different Barrington resource, while learning more about the people, places, events and things that make our home town great.
